Nuclear Chemistry Projects

Jr. Medical School students need to gain a deeper understanding of nuclear chemistry. Take the following open book exam.



1..... Can you describe the nature of radiation?
2..... Define a nuclear reaction and describe three types of radioactive decay.
3......Can you explain how transmutation occurs naturally.

4......How can nuclear bombardment create larger atoms?

5.....Explain half-life and its use in dating objects.

6.....State the difference between fission and fusion.

7.....State two examples of where nuclear chemistry is used in a hospital.

    Jr. Medical Lab Notes and Extra Credit Questions: What role did William Roenten play in the discovery of X-rays? The x-ray was discovered in 1895. What other information can you add to the story about x-rays? Who is the element 111 named after? What can you tell us about this element?
